With the new scheduling system (July 2026), the way multiple OtO devices water together has changed. This article explains how it works now, for both scheduled and manual watering.
Scheduled watering
We recommend watering one OtO at a time. Zones from different OtOs can share a single schedule, and they'll water one after the other in the order you choose. This is the most reliable setup as some homes don't have enough water pressure to run two OtOs at once, which can cause zones to water poorly or stop early.
That said, if you'd like your OtOs to run at the same time, you can:
1. Create a separate schedule for each OtO.
2. Add only that OtO's zones to its schedule. For example, all zones from your first OtO go under one schedule, all zones from your second OtO under another, and so on.
3. Set the schedules to the start times you want.
Here's what that looks like:
You'll see a "Conflicting" badge on these schedules, that's expected. You can safely ignore it. As long as each schedule contains zones from only one OtO, both schedules will run at their start times.
When a conflict actually matters
A conflict only causes a problem when a single OtO has zones split across two overlapping schedules. Because one OtO can only water one of its own zones at a time, some of those zones may not run. You can learn more here: What are conflicting schedules?
Manual watering
Manual watering works through the Water on Demand feature, which waters your zones one by one in the order you choose.
However, you can also use it to run multiple OtOs at once:
- While one OtO is watering, use Water on Demand to select zones from another OtO and press Start now.
- Press Start anyway to start watering from your other OtO
Both OtOs will now water at the same time. The OtO that was already running keeps running.
A few things to keep in mind:
- A single OtO still waters one of its own zones at a time. If you start a new zone on an OtO that's already watering, the new zone will water after the current zone has been watered.
- Some homes don't have enough water pressure to run two OtOs at once. If zones seem to water poorly or stop early while both are running, try running one OtO at a time.
Either bring back the ability to run multiple OTOs on manual or send me a refund for 3 units. Second season owning these why would you make this change? They are now useless to me.
Hey Terry, you can run multiple OtOs on manual again as of app version 4.0.5. Update the app and it should be there. Sorry this got taken away mid-season. Let me know how it goes once you've tried it at care@otolawn.com.
