Lawn care has never been more fun. Play Mode transforms your lawn into a mini splash park. Choose between two game modes and, with the press of a button, OtO creates randomized bursts of water within your selected zone—perfect for kids and pets.
Game modes
There are two game modes to select from: Splash Tag and Chase.
Splash Tag causes OtO's water stream to randomly hop around the zone, splashing new spots every few seconds.
Chase creates a smooth water arc that sweeps across your zone.
How to use Play Mode
Using Play Mode is super simple - follow the steps below to find the feature in the OtO app and start using it.
1. Go to the More page in the OtO app from the bottom menu.
2. Click on the OtO Play tile.
3. Select whichever game mode you'd like to play.
4. Select the Area zone that you'd like Play Mode to run in (note that Play Mode can only be used in Area zones). Once the zone is selected, hit Play now.

5. Press OtO's switch to start playing right away. OtO will start watering within 30 seconds.
6. Play Mode will run for a 10 minute duration. If you'd like to stop anytime between, you can do so by hitting Stop now, or the stop icon in the green Play Mode tile at the bottom of the screen.
Common FAQs
Q: Do I have to pay extra for this feature?
There is no additional charge to use Play Mode and it can be used on any version of OtO hardware.
Q: "Where do I find Play Mode?"
A: Play Mode is located under the More tab in the OtO app - look for the big colorful tile marked OtO Play.
Q: "Does Play Mode only work with area zones?"
A: Yes, Play Mode only works with Area zones, and doesn't work with Line or Spot zones.
Q: "Does Play Mode count towards my weekly watering limit?"
A: No, Play Mode does not count or affect your zone's weekly watering limit. Play Mode is designed for fun, not precise irrigation coverage, so it doesn’t calculate water output the same way scheduled watering does. Because of this, the amount of water used during Play Mode is unlikely to meaningfully impact your regular watering schedule. That said, if you’ve had an especially long play session, you can always skip your next scheduled watering for peace of mind.
