Software Release: Tiberius Firmware & App Release (v1.3.1)

We are very excited to announce that we have just pushed the highly-anticipated "Tiberius" firmware update along with revised App versions!

This firmware is a significant improvement on the original OtO system and will provide a much stronger, more robust foundation to build better, smarter and more effective features that will help you save even more time and water.

How to get the latest version:

  1. At 2:20 PM EST on June 14, 2022 we pushed the firmware to all on-line units. If your unit was connected to reliable Wi-Fi at that time, it will have received the updated firmware.
  2. The next time you open your OtO app, it will ask you to update to the latest version of the app in your app store. For compatibility reasons, this app update is not optional.

How to check which app version you're on:

  1. Open the OtO app.
  2. Tap the hamburger menu in the upper left hand corner.
  3. You will see the app version written at the bottom of the menu.

🚨 Important 🚨

1. COVERAGE ISSUES: If you were experiencing "coverage issues" (i.e. unit not watering entire zone, unexplained 360s, watering outside the zone), you will need to recreate this zone in the new app and firmware. 

2. NEWLY ACTIVATED UNITS: Old firmware is not compatible with the new version of the app. If you are setting up a new unit that has never been activated before:

  1. Download the Legacy version of the app to connect the device to Wi-Fi so that it can update to the latest firmware version. Both versions of the app can be installed on a phone at the same time.

  2. As long as the device is connected to consistent Wi-Fi, it will update automatically to the latest firmware version. You will see it glow icy (light) blue while it is updating.
  3. Once it has finished updating, delete the OtO Lawn Legacy App from your phone and proceed to use the device using the current OtO Lawn App.

 

🤔Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I know when my firmware has been updated?

When we push the new firmware, you will see the unit "updating" in the app on the homepage. 

You may also see it glow a light, icy blue while it is updating.

Once it is finished updating to the latest firmware, it will stop saying "updating" in the app.

It may take some units as long as 8 hours to update.

 

I need to take my unit out of winter mode, what now?

There's no need to do anything special as long as you have not changed your Wi-Fi password or SSID.

The next time you open your app, it will prompt you to update to the latest app version.

Simply attach your unit to the hose, turn off Winter Mode (Device Settings Icon > Winter Mode > Disable Winter Mode) and your unit will reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. Once it has reconnected to Wi-Fi, it will automatically update to the latest version of firmware.

 

My unit was previously activated, but has been offline. What now?

When you open your app again, it will force you to update to the latest version of the app.

As long as you have not changed your Wi-Fi password or SSID, your unit should have no trouble connecting to Wi-Fi and automatically updating to the latest version of firmware.

 

I haven't taken my unit out of the box yet, what now?

Old firmware is not compatible with the new version of the app. If you are setting up a new unit that has never been activated before, you will need to use a Legacy version of the app to connect the device to Wi-Fi so that it can update to the latest firmware version.

Both versions of the app can be installed on a phone at the same time.

 

Do I have to update to the latest version of the app/firmware?

Yes, this is a mandatory update or your OtO device will not function properly as old versions of the firmware are not compatible with the new version of the app. If your OtO is online, the next time you open your app it will prompt you to update.

 

I just bought a unit but my order is backlogged. Am I affected?

No. Units in the backlog will be shipped with the latest version of firmware. You will set up your unit as usual.

 

🧰Troubleshooting

I am still experiencing "coverage issues" (not finishing the zone, getting stuck in one spot, etc.) after updating to the latest firmware.

  1. Please double check that you are on the latest version of the app. 
  2. Delete the troublesome zone and recreate it from scratch using the updated version of the app and firmware. This should solve the problem.

 

I'm still having problems, I'm not sure if my firmware is updated?

If you recently activated your unit for the first time, your unit may not be able to update over the air automatically.

If this is the case, you will need to download a legacy version of the app using the links below:

Both versions of the app can be installed on a phone at the same time.

Once you have downloaded the legacy app, set up the unit as usual. You will pair your phone Bluetooth to your OtO device and add your Wi-Fi credentials.

 

The app is crashing or behaving irregularly.

Delete the app entirely and download again from your app store. You will not lose your account information (such as zones, watering settings, etc.).

Make sure you are using the current OtO Lawn App, NOT the Legacy version to set up zones, and edit schedules. the Legacy version should only be used to connect OtO to Wi-Fi and update it to the latest firmware version.
